Sunday 13th May seen all teams and privateers take to the track at Road Atlanta for the season finale of the 2018 TORA American Sports Car Championship. VPR T1 headed up by JamJar Hastings secured a lobby two race start position by setting a qualifying time of 1:20.828 in the first of the Pirtek Porsche 911 RSR GT3’s. Jam’s T1 team mates both qualified for lobby three positions with VPR Jayc placing himself on grid with a qualifying time of 1:23.829 whilst VPR G man set a qualifying time of 1:25.938. VPR T2 headed up by Ryanvxracing also qualified for lobby three race start positions. Ryanvxracing set a qualifying lap time of 1:22.993 whilst T2 team mate and team principal VPR AnonCaliga set a qualifying time of 1:23.672 and VPR Brock put in his time of 1:27.190. The 90-minute end of season championship race went quite well for most of the team with no major issues. Road Atlanta, being somewhat of a narrow track in most of its full circuit layout caused some pre-race concern from many teams and GT drivers that there could well be many incidents throughout the race with the faster TORA Prototype cars, that share the series with the ASCC GT’s, but mostly all proto drivers were indeed careful and held back on overzealous overtaking manoeuvres until the track opened up to allow for safe and quick over taking of the GT cars. Everyone was weary of the downhill final turn leading back onto the start/finish straight because had there been an incident ahead at that position on track then many drivers coming down the hill onto the final turn wouldn’t have adequate time to avoid any potential incidents or stationary cars at that point which would to further contact and race ruining damage, thankfully however this was not to be the case and although there were a few minor final turn incidents none caused any kind of pile up for approaching cars. Immediately after race end the teams held their breaths awaiting TORA’s updated confirmation of end of season points and standings. Finally, the points tally had been completed and confirmation came in of all teams and privateers final end of season standings. Virtual Pirtek Racing celebrated when they realised they had done enough to better their 2017 ASCC end of season team championship standing in which they took 4th in GT class, but for 2018 VPR congratulated each other as T1 took an impressive 2nd place in the GT class but adding to that, T2 secured 4th in GT class giving Virtual Pirtek Racing two teams in the top ten end of season championship positions. Team Principal AnonCaliga said afterwards, “Yet again the guys have gone above my expectations and really impressed, I’m super proud of my team and it’s great to see how each of them really band together to get a job done when it really matters. We’ve not only got a great close knit team here which we’ve taken deliberately slow and steady time to build to ensure only the most suited drivers enter our team but we’ve also got an online family within CTech Motorsport / Virtual Pirtek Racing in which I am proud of each day. Great job team, great job once again and thanks to each of you.” The final GT class team standings for TORA ASCC 2018 can be seen below along with some in race team images taken from the season finale round at Road Atlanta last week. Team media day complete, pictures taken for sponsors and after the many months of planning, testing, tuning, tweaking and even more hours of team practice sessions, last Sunday the VPR team and all competing teams finally got round one of the TORA British GT eSports Championship underway at Virginia International Raceway. Without doubt, there was a huge turnout and representation put forward by all teams and the competition was thoroughly at a high standard. VPR’s team one represented by VPR Torque and JamJar Hastings qualified in Lobby 4 whilst their third team mate, Ryanvxracing qualified for Lobby 7. Race one results for team one were as follows: VPR Torque took 10th after a collision put him down the field. JamJar Hastings took a podium 3rd place and last but not least Ryanvxracing took a very respectable 4th place in his lobby. Race two would see all drivers starting from their race one finishing positions and still for team one it was an even better result. VPR Torque took 5th having started toward the very back of the field due to the incident from the earlier race one. JamJar Hastings took a well-deserved 1st place podium position and Ryanvxracing brought home a 4th once again in his lobby. VPR’s team two represented by VPR AnonCaliga qualified in Lobby 8 whilst his two team mates, gman555 and Jayc1975 both qualified for Lobby 9. Race one results for team two were as follows: VPR AnonCaliga took 5th whilst Jayc1975 took another podium position for the overall team in his lobby by securing a 2nd place finishing position. Gman555 also brought home a 5th place finishing position however he soon got notified that TORA Stewards had awarded him a penalty which was challenged by the team afterwards yet the penalty was upheld. Race two would then see VPR AnonCaliga in Lobby 8 bring home another 5th position while in Lobby 9 gman555 secured the team a 4th position and once again a third podium of the night was collected for the overall VPR team by Jayc1975 taking a 3rd place position in the final race of the evening. VPR’s team three represented by VPR Brock who qualified for Lobby 8 managed to secure team three a 9th place finishing position in race one while his team mate, TOMWHITTY qualified alongside his overall team mates Torque and Jam for Lobby 4. TOMWHITTY appearing in his first ever outing for the Virtual Pirtek Racing team crossed the line to bring the team a finishing position of 5th place in Lobby 4. Race two would see VPR Brock take a 6th place finishing position in his lobby while team mate TOMWHITTY took the overall teams fifth podium of the night by crossing the finish line in 3rd place in Lobby 4. Five podium finishes by three VPR team mates over two different lobbies was a very successful night for any team competing in the opening rounds of the TORA Official British GT eSports Championship. The team championship standings after round one can be seen in the table below. Round two of the championship gets going on Sunday 6th May with Indianapolis being the host for the championship teams and competitors.

This week Team VPR pulled the cover off their new team car which is set to compete in this season of the official backed, TORA British GT eSports Championship which begins on Sunday 15th April at Virginia International Raceway. Last season, VPR secured 2nd place in the end of season team standings and hope to better that this year with the addition of some fresher talent added to the team. The team unveiling was surprisingly met with many positive private messages to the teams Twitter account and also many shares, likes and additional positive comments across the teams various social networking platforms. VPR’s car and livery unveiling was accompanied not only with images as per usual but with a video demonstrating the now blurred lines that exist between real world and virtual reality motorsports. The car itself has been dressed in the latest 2018 Pirtek Racing livery that can be seen on the team’s real world sponsors BTCC car, the BMW 125i M, which VPR have adapted and remade to fit the larger BMW M6. It’s been a busy few weeks at CTech Motorsport team HQ with sponsorship renewal periods approaching, emails going back and forth from sponsors and the looming date of the upcoming season opening rounds of the officially backed British GT eSports championship not so far away, it’s indeed been a busy time. Today, however we are thrilled to announce the continued long term sponsorship backing of our team main sponsor, Pirtek and thank them for the past four years’ sponsorship and we look forward to the future with them for many years to come. CTech Motorsport / Virtual Pirtek Racing are delighted to now also announce that our other two team sponsors, Extralube ZX1 and Autoglym have also stated that they have extended their previous sponsorship with our team and again we thank both for their continued sponsorship and support and we again look forward to carrying their brand logos on the team’s virtual race cars for many years to come. 2018 marks the sixth year since CTech Motorsport sim race team was founded by three motorsport fanatic friends and although two of those original founding members have since gone on to reach pastures a new within their real world lives we do look back fondly when one founder took part in racing, one managed and the other looked after the team social media presence, all at a time before official real world sponsorship had been given to our team and all before the eSports racing world was taken seriously by real world entities. Now that sponsorship has been secured our team has grown, we’ve had much success and a few minor setbacks but all goes toward the teams catalogue of experience and where many newly founded teams have long gone after just a few short years or less, CTech Motorsport / Virtual Pirtek Racing continues. We take this opportunity to again thank our team sponsors, followers and friends for their continued support and we look forward to the next many years with you all. ![]() To celebrate CTech Motorsport's 6th anniversary and our teams' long term sponsorship with Pirtek we've brought back our team giveaways which we have ran these past two years and we know you love a good freebie. Earlier this month VPR welcomed back into the family an old face as well as some new talent and it is with great pleasure that CTech Motorsport / Virtual Pirtek Racing today officially announce and welcome new team driver Tom Whitmore to the VPR sim race team but also welcome back to our team, after some personal time away, past Team Manager, tuner and driver, Nutter aka VPR Torque.
Tom and Torque will take part in the upcoming TORA British GT eSports Championship for Virtual Pirtek Racing alongside the rest of the team hoping to improve on VPR's 2nd place GT3 championship standing of last season. Welcome aboard Tom and welcome back to the family Torque. It’s that time of year again! It’s almost season launch time for the officially backed TORA British GT eSports championship and after the 2017 season, this season is again set to be a super season. So, TORA British GT news so far has been few and far between, at time of writing no build specifications have yet been released by TORA and there has been a lack of any season news or scheduling. Team Virtual Pirtek Racing have announced recently they will not return to using the Porsche in the 2018 season even though the older Porsche RSR gave the team a second place overall last year in the final team standings for the 2017 British GT eSports championship, but as there hasn’t been enough information supplied to whether or not the new Porsche RSR GT3 will be allowed into the 2018 TORA British GT eSports championship season and as the older 911 RSR is several years past retirement already the team felt it wasn’t in the teams interests to use the Porsche once again for the British GT season. Virtual Pirtek Racing haven’t fully gone a different path from the Porsche chassis as the team currently race six of the newer Porsche 911 RSR GT3’s in the TORA 2018 American Sports Car Championship. UPDATED: CTech Motorsport / Virtual Pirtek Racing confirmed recently they would be using the new BMW machinery in the form of the M6 GTLM for their entries this year into the TORA British GT eSports championship. VPR have as much time with BMW as they have with the Porsche and having used the BMW 125i M in the 2017 TORA TCC championship to reflect what the team sponsor was using in the real world BTCC it was only fitting that the team challenger for the new season would again come in the form of the BMW marque. VPR have also won two previous TORA championship titles in previous years using BMW machinery and look forward to once again stepping into something familiar. Yesterday (Wednesday 14th March 2018) TORA held their annual British GT eSports championship media day (see attached images) and Virtual Pirtek Racing took the opportunity extended to them to join in the media day and get some early testing done in their new BMW M6 GTLM cars. VPR took two of their proposed cars to the TORA media day, albeit with a temporary livery hastily put together just for the media day outing, and spent a couple of hours giving the two BMW’s a shakedown. TORA have yet to release the build specification for the car to enter into this year’s championship but the photoshoot opportunity at media day did still give the team a basic idea of the cars capabilities on track. Virtual Pirtek Racing recently unveiled their sextuplets of Porsche 911 RSR GT3’s which will enter into the the 2018 TORA ASCC. The six VPR cars were revealed on social media and many followers were surprisingly shocked but delighted at the sight of the team’s new livery which was indeed a break from the norm. The mainly black Porsche with holographic Pirtek logo running along each side and finished with a blue rear with light blue and a white stripe along the lower thirds of the car was most definitely different for the team. Team Principal AnonCaliga said, “We definitely took a different path with this year’s ASCC livery but it is different and we like it. We usually try not to stray too far away from what the real-world team livery is like due to our sponsorship agreement with Pirtek UK but given the Pirtek branding is still the most prominent part of the car and there’s no way you could mistake this car for anything other than a Pirtek sponsored virtual race car we decided to go with it, it was indeed a gamble and thankfully everyone so far really like it.” The inaugural round of the 2018 TORA ASCC season gets underway on Sunday, February 11th with Homestead Miami playing host to the teams and privateers registered to race in this year’s championship. |
